BJP MP Kirti Azad was made to pay his price for bringing up Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s involvement in the Delhi and District Cricket Association scam, with the party suspending him for anti- party activities. The suspension was notified by a press release from the party.

According to sources, BJP chief Amit Shah held meetings with the central leadership before taking the final decision. However the MP from Darbhanga in Bihar was not even given a show cause notice prior to the suspension. He also didn’t get any chance to explain himself.

The party leadership has been at wars with Mr. Azad since a few weeks for his allegations against Mr. Jaitley. However the situation worsened after Azad conducted a press conference in which he firmly alleged that Jaitley had the knowledge of corruption taking place in DDCA.

Mr. Azad had also raised the issue inside the Parliament, which has brought much embarrassment to the ruling dispensation. He has also turned down the party’s central leadership’s request to not take up the issue further. The party is also known to suspect the involvement of Congress President Sonia Gandhi in prompting the MP to go further with his allegations.

The issue is slipping off from the party’s hand with the Shatrughan Sinha, the BJP MP from Patna Sahib backing Mr. Azad. He said Kirti Azad is the hero of the day and appealed to friends in the party to avoid knee jerk reactions and coercive action against friend who’s fighting against corruption.
