Kashmir: Chillai Kalan, the gripping cold remains unchanged on Thursday in Jammu and Kashmir. The temperature in the city tipped to fall below Srinagar’s.
“The maximum temperature in Jammu city is expected to hover around 10 degrees while in Srinagar it may be around 13 degrees, seven degrees above normal at this time of the season,” said an official from the meteorological department.
On Thursday, the temperature was a minimum of 6.9 degrees in Jammu city. It was 3.5 in Katra town, 1.7 in Batote, 5.2 in Bannihal, minus 1.2 in Bhaderwah and 2.9 degrees Celsius in Udhampur town.
The temperature showed a minimum of 4.3 degrees in Srinagar, and a minus of 7.3 in Pahalgam. In Gulmarg it was a minus 5.6.
The Ladakh region, Leh town recorded minus 16 degrees. The minimum temperature in Kargil settled at minus 16.4 degrees Celsius.
“The weather is likely to remain dry and cold in Jammu and Kashmir till January 27,” the official added.
