Senior Congress leader and former Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly A C Jose died at a private hospital here today after suffering a cardiac arrest.
A C Jose, the Senior Congress leader and former Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly died today a private hospital due to cardiac arrest. He was 79.
A C Jose, complained of a chest pain, and was taken to the hospital early in the morning. He was declared dead by the hospital with hours of arrival.
Jose, was a strong pillar in the formation of the Kerala Students Union (KSU) , the student wing of Congress in Kerala. He had also served as the Mayor of the Kochi Corporation in 1970’s.
In 1980, A C Jose, was elected as the member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Paravur Constituency. In 1982, he used the norm of casting vote to regain the Congress government headed by L Karunakaran after he was elected as the Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly.
Jose, a former Vice President of KPCC, was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1996, 1998, and 1999 general elections.
