CBI to Set up Anti Corruption Zone to Speed up Vyapam Probe



The Union Government has today permitted the CBI to set up the second Anti Corruption Zone to speed up the trails and investigations in the multi crore Vyapam scam. Under this Anti Corruption Zone-II, branches will be set up in Bhopal during this fiscal itself, the Central Bureau of Investigation’s press information officer R K Gaur said.

The Centre has sanctioned 321posts for the investigation and trial purpose, among them 237 from the rank of constable to DIG of the police will be appointed. Along with this, 20legal officers and 64 clerical staffs will also be appointed in the zone which will have its headquarter at Delhi. The CBI has been in fact facing a manpower shortage to continue the probe.

In the entire investigation till now, about12 cases have been registered with more than 2000 people accused. The accused include high level officials and politicians. Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav too was booked by the Special Task Force in a forest guard recruitment scam under the Vyapam. However the MP high Court has cancelled the charges against him, citing the constitutional immunities available for the governor.
