Dozens killed in a series of militant attack in Iraq

A series of attack in Iraq by the Islamic State resulted in the death of more than dozen of people and left at least 50 people injured.

According to the  Guardian report, gunman detonated suicide vests inside a shoping complex in Baghdad on Monday and a car bomb exploded nearby killing atleast 18 people and injured more than 40 people.

Gunmen charged into al-Jawhara shoping centre,a popular shoping mall located in the shia majority  area of New Baghdad, after a car bomb exploded outside the building.

Among the victim was a four month old baby.

According to official sources, police regained the control of the mall and all the attackers were killed.

Aljazeera reports a twin suicide blast in the town of Muqdadiya in Diyala province,  80 km north east of Baghdad, which results in the death of 18 people at a casino.

The Islamic State claimed the responsibility for the attack and a statement issued online shortly after the attack said that four of the ISIS fighters carried out the attack  and it has targeted’ rejectionists’ and ‘worse was yet to come’.

Monday’s attack left the biggest death toll in the country for the last three months.
