And interestingly the most expensive buy in the previous IPL auction,India’s star all- rounder Yuvraj Singh, along with 11 others, have quoted the highest base price . Thereby creating a necessary buzz before the players go down the hammer.
According to a report in ‘ESPN Cricinfo’, apart from Yuvraj, England’s former skipper the flamboyant Kevin Pietersen and in-form Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh are among the 12 players who have listed the highest base price in a list of 714 players .
South African pacer Dale Steyn, India’s Mohit Sharma and Englishman Jos Buttler are part of the Rs 1.5 crore group, while Irfan Pathan and Tim Southee are in the Rs 1 crore cluster. “A total of 61 players were released by the six franchises when the first trading window closed on December 31,” the report stated.
The auction is likely to be a busy affair considering not just the two new franchises – Rising Pune Super Giants (RPSG) and the yet to be named Rajkot team – but also established teams like Delhi Daredevils are expected to bid fiercely at the single-day auction. while all eyes will be on the new teams in the 2016 IPL , the focus will be on other teams who would like to strengthen their teams with uitility players to enhance their performances.
