Pakistani Ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali will perform at the Lucknow Mahotsav on Sunday. He has been in the news recently when his concerts in Mumbai and Pune were called off after strong protests from Shiv Sena activists. The issue was the main talking point in the growing intolerance debate in the country. He was invited to Kerala last month for a Ghazal concert.
Lucknow Mahotsav is organised for tourism promotion by the Uttar Pradesh Government every year. This year’s spectacle began on January 27 and showcases UP art and culture. The maestro’s picture taken on the way to the event was posted on the UP government’s twitter page. According to the photo caption Ghulam Ali was welcomed by the Principal Secretary Navneet Sehgal.
‘Ghar Wapsi’ ,the movie marking Ghulam Ali’s acting debut is slated for release later this year and he will be attending its music launch on March 5 in Delhi. He has composed the music for the film and also sang a patriotic number.
