India opens medal account at 12 SAG

Guwahati: The second day of the 12th South Asian games in Guwahati witnessed India on a roll after bagging 6 medals that included 4 Gold. The silver medals were won for cycling and the weightlifting category won both the gold medals.

Bidyaluxmi Tourangbam won the very first coveted gold medal, while Chaoba Devi Elangham won the silver. Both were won in the Women’s 30 km Time Trail event at the SAG.

For the men’s team Arvind Panwar struck gold while Manjeet Singh settled with silver for the Men’s 40 km Time Trail event.

The weightlifting event involved Mirabai Chanu claiming her gold in the 48 kg category.

Today India would be featuring in various other events including wrestling, Football, Squash, Table Tennis and Khokho.
