Women have equal rights over temple like men: Sri Sri Ravishankar
The recent protests by women to enter the Shani Shingnapur temple has received support from new quarters.
Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar has come forward and stated that there should not be any discrimination between men and women when it comes to places of worship.
“There should be no discrimination. Everybody has an equal right to worship. I suggested that no one except the priest should be allowed to be on the holy platform,” Ravishankar said.
“It is nowhere written in the scriptures that women should not enter inside the temples. If that would have been the case, women would not have been allowed inside India’s biggest temple- Kashi Vishwanathan temple,” he added.
“I have talked with Trupti Desai. She said there should be women priests as well,” he added.
Earlier today, the guru had said that people who are prohibiting the entry of women to places of worship have no rationale behind their claims. He also added the importance of changing their mindset only through persuasion and not force.
