Mumbai: The Global Teacher Prize was set up two years ago to recognize exceptional teachers who has influenced and made outstanding contribution to the profession as well. The recognition tends to shine a spotlight on the important role teachers play within a society. The prize money of US $ 1 million can be considered as one of the largest purse.
Robin Chaurasiya, founder of Kranti School in Mumbai has been shortlisted in the top 10 by the Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize for 2016
The finalists were announced by none other than Stephen Hawking.
Robin Chaurasiya was born and brought up in the United States of America. After serving the army, she decided to move to India and founded Kranti. The non profit empowers marginalized girls from Mumbai Red light district to become the agents of change. Robin holds a degree in Psychology and Political Science and Post graduate degree in gender studies.
