According to a State Medical and Health Dept official, swine flu has caused 34 deaths in Rajasthan during this January and February. Out of 2,000 samples collected in the state, 162 people have tested positive.
While 15 deaths were reported in Jaipur, four were from Ajmer, two in Bharatpur, Churu, Hanumangarh and Alwar, besides other places.
This year the state medical and health department has taken several key measures to contain the spread of the virus, he said.
Effective surveillance, monitoring and treatment of patients are the prime objectives of the state department, the official said.
