Kochi: Rajesh Pillai, a renowned director, known for his brilliant intertwined narrative movie style had passed away today at Cochin. The director was known to be suffering from liver cirrhosis for some time which worsened his health further.
The director began his career in 2005 by directing Hridaythil Sookshikkan, which was on the lines of the Hollywood movie ‘Meet your parents’.
His second movie was another success. The movie Traffic, a multi-narrative thriller that intertwines multiple stories around one particular incident. The movie was inspired by an actual event that happened in Chennai. Owing to its critical and commercial success, Traffic was remade into Tamil and Hindi.
In 2015, the director decided to create “heroine-centric motivational film” and gave life to Mili with Nivin Pauly starring opposite main cast, Amala Paul. The movie was received with rave reviews.
The director’s final film was Vettah a psychological thriller, starring Kunchacko Boban, Manju Warrier, and Indrajith Sukumaran and was released yesterday all over Kerala. The movie was touted to be the first ever mind game movie genre in Malayalam.
