New Delhi: Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces will be arriving in New Delhi today on a three-day visit to India.
A high-level delegation, captains of the industry and ministers from the cabinet will be accompanying the Crown Prince during the visit.
During the visit, the Crown Prince will be calling upon President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rasthrapati Bhavan and will hold bilateral talks with PM Modi on issues of mutual interest.
Last year, PM Modi had visited UAE and had invited the Crown Prince to visit India. Both the countries had agreed to elevate bilateral relationships to a higher strategic partnership.
Both the countries share historical ties. India enjoys a close relationship with UAE on mutually beneficial commercial exchanges and a very extensive and long term people to people partnership.
In 2014 -15, the bilateral trade between India and UAE amounted to U.S. $59 billion, making UAE our third largest trading partner.
UAE is also one of the largest FDI investors in India and contributes significantly to India’s energy security. The country is also the sixth largest crude oil supplier to India.
Our people to people contacts have been since time immemorial. A strong 2.6 million vibrant Indian community forms the largest expatriate group in UAE. The positive and well-experienced contribution has always been recognized by the host country and also set the anchor of our relationship.
The security and stability of the Gulf region are vital for India. The region hosts close to seven million Indians and also meet a big percentage of our crude oil requirement.
