The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and the private hotel chain OYO are planning to offer a convenient booking platform for passengers. The tie up is expected of providing standardized accommodation to the train travelers by arranging hotel rooms across 170 cities across the country.
The partnership will facilitate OYO to power the IRCTC hotel-booking page, offering their inventory and promise of standardised amenities to passengers, IRCTC CMD A.K Manocha said.
The partnership symbolises the growing leverage of synergy between the government and home-grown Indian businesses. He added that the partnership contributes another chapter to the successful narrative of ‘Make in India’ initiatives and how tech-enabled solutions will power innovation.
IRCTC-OYO Rooms will offer nearly 45,000 hotel rooms. The IRCTC portal witnesses 5 to 5.5 lakh bookings per day on an average.
