Mumbai: A new initiative by the Maharashtra Government will most likely see Bollywood star Aamir Khan as the brand ambassador. The ‘Jalyukt Shivar Project’, an initiative to make Maharashtra a drought-free is being introduced by the government.

The move by the Bhartiya Janata Party-led government comes as a surprise to many. Less than three months ago, the actor found himself in the middle of the ‘intolerance debate’ in India. Yet, the government has decided to rope in the star to partner for its flagship schemes.

According to official sources, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Aamir Khan will make the joint announcement of the initiative on Wednesday.

Following the actor’s controversial comments on the issue of intolerance, there were reports that the former’s contract with Incredible India was cancelled.
