PM Modi Inaugurates the first Petrochemical Project in North-east

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurating the Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Ltd., at Dibrugarh, Assam on February 05, 2016. 	The Governor of Assam, Nagaland & Tripura, Shri Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya, the Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Tarun Gogoi and the Union Ministers are also seen.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Ltd at Lepetkata near Dibrugarh, a petrochemical complex which is the first petrochemical project in the north-east. He also inaugurated the wax plant of Numaligarh Refineries Ltd.

Later today, he will be in Assam today to inaugurate the 12th South Asian Games at Guwahati. Addressing the press, Prime Minister Modi pointed out the importance of these two projects for Assam. He asserted that the project will bring value addition from these projects to achieve natural raw materials and employment opportunities for the youth of Assam. He used the occasion to highlight the importance of finishing projects within the stipulated time frame and thus avoiding any cost overruns.

PM said the Government identifies the need for developing the north-east for the development of India and is paying special attention to that effect by boosting infrastructure and connectivity. The PRAGATI initiative which gives fillip to stalled projects was mentioned by him in relation to the importance of rapid industrial growth for employment generation. He targeted the youth and highlighted the Government initiatives like Mudra and Start-up India which help to create employment for the youth.
