Sir Lanka: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had called upon Maithripala Sirisena, the Sri Lankan President at his house in Colombo.
She also inaugurated the exhibition titled ‘Rise of Digital India’ as part of the ‘Sangam – The Festival of India in Sri Lanka 2015-16’.
The exhibition had showcased the phenomenal rise of computing sector and digital technologies within India. The rise in technology has had a positive impact on the everyday lives of people.
According to Lanka page website, Swaraj had remarked at the positive impact of digital technology on the lives of millions of Indians in various areas such as agriculture, space and e-governance. The minister had also pledged to support Sri Lanka by setting up an IT park that would attract investments
The visiting minister had called upon Chandrika Kumaratunga, the former president, at her residence
Swaraj briefed the President of Sri Lanka about the outcomes of the 9th India-Sri Lanka Joint commission meeting held in Colombo. The minister would conclude her trip to Sri Lanka this afternoon.
