At least 35 Pakistani nationals were arrested by Rajasthan police in Ramdevra, Jaisalmer on Saturday. The tourists were held because they did not posess a valid visa. Kushal Chandra, SHO of Ramdevra, said the authorities have been informed about the arrest of Pakistani nationals and he was awaiting further instructions.
The Pakistani nationals, who entered India through the Thar Desert via Munabav, had been granted visa only to visit the holy cities of Mathura and Haridwar, but not for Ramdevra.
The Pakistanis were planning to visit Baba Ramdev Temple where the samadhi of Baba Ramdev stands.
The tourists reportedly belong to Amarkot, Mirpur Khas and Tharparkar of Pakistan’s southern Sindh province.
The arrests came two days after Pakistan claimed to have arrested an Indian “intelligence agent” from its insurgency hit south western province of Balochistan.
