800 Bangladeshi students get scholarship
Under Muktijoddha Scholarship programme, India distributes scholarship to 800 Bangladeshi students.
The scholarships were given of at Dhaka by Minister for Liberation War Affairs in the presence of Harsh Vardhan Sringla, Indian High Commissioner.
The scholarship programme was launched by India in 2006, to nourish the international bonds between the two countries ever since the wining of the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 against Pakistan.
Under the scholarship programme, the students who fall in line of freedom fighters get selected on merit basis to pursue undergraduate studies.
As of now 9500 students have been benefited from the scheme and more than 130 million takas have been distributed to the students so far.
Speaking on the occasion of the distribution, the Indian representative said, “The Scholarship Scheme is a symbolic gesture from Indian government to demonstrate continued solidarity with the martyrs and to strengthen India-Bangladesh people to people relations.”
