ABVP plans to stop Kanhaiya from entering Aligarh
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) convened a meeting, named ‘Kanhaiya Roko Abhiyan’ to protest the visit of JNU Students Union president, Kanhaiya Kumar to Aligarh Muslim University(AMU). The meeting resolved not to let him set foot into the city itself.
The meeting was called in to block “desh drohi” (anti-national) Kanhaiya, Student’s Union president of JNU, who is out on bail in a sedition case. Kanhaiya was scheduled to attend a convention on nationalism at the AMU on 2 April.
The talk for Kanhaiya Kumar was organised by AISA, the students wing of CPI (ML) but fearing protests in the campus, the university authorities cancelled the convention.
This induced the ABVP, not to let Kanhaiya even be allowed to enter Aligarh, AMU being a long shot. “He will never be able to step into Aligarh, forget AMU,” said Nikhil Maheshwari, ABVP state co-head. However AISA leaders said that they will organise the convention later Kanhaiya will be invited to participate.
