TRAI has extended the call drop compensation report submission date for the different service providers to March 14th.
“TRAI has extended compliance report submission to March 14,” the source said.
The national service providers requested Telecom Regualatory Authority of India (TRAI) to extend the date for the submission of the call drop compensation from 7th March to 14th of the same month, considering the case would be heard by the court on 10th of March.
In a letter to TRAI dated March 7, the Cellular Operators’ Association of India (COAI) and Association of Unified Telecom Service Providers of India (AUSPI) said: “Please note that the Supreme Court has directed the matters to be listed on March 10, 2016 for final disposal.”
“In view of the above and since the aforesaid matters are sub-judice before the court, we request you to keep your letter dated March 2, 2016 in abeyance,” it added.
The TRAI had earlier given a deadline to the service providers to submit the compensation call drop report by March 7th.
The Supreme Court summoned for the matter on March 4th refused to pass an order regarding the payment of compensation for the customers for call drop and a hearing would be held again on March 10th considering the plea by the association of telecom service operators who wanted to undo with the decision of TRAI.
The COAI and the AUSPI had earlier forced the regulator on October 16, 2015, postponing the compensation decision to be mandatory and into to force by January 1st 2016.
