New Delhi: Former Lok Sabha speaker and prominent senior politician P A Sangma passed away today. He was 68 years old at the time of death.
Mr Sangma was the co-founder of the Nationalist Congress Party and had also remained as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya from 1988 to 1990. The senior politician had also contested for the position of the President of India against Pranab Mukherjee.
As a mark of respect, the Lok Sabha has been adjourned till March 8. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has said “We deeply mourn the passing away of PA Sangma ji. I had learnt how to run the Lok Sabha with a smile from him.”
