New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor says, his party won’t have any objection if JNU Student’s Union President Kanhaiya Kumar decides to join them. Tharoor, a congress MP from Kerala and former Under Secretary of UN, expressed this opinion during an interview with CNN-IBN channel.
“If he (Kanhaiya) were to come to our party, I see no reason why he wouldn’t be welcomed, but he has got another political affiliation,” Tharoor said.
Tharoor accused BJP for appropriating nationalism mantle to depict their critics and opponents as anti-nationals. He said that BJP is creating an acid test for nationalism in such a way that one has to say ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and has to believe in Hindutva Political beliefs or would have to say ‘move to Pakistan’, to be a true nationalist. ‘It is a kind of rhetoric which is unnecessary divisible’ Tharoor said.
Asserting that Congress is the biggest nationalist party when compared to BJP, Tharoor commented that The ruling party is not the government and the government is not nation.
