The Election Commission has granted the permission to broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat’ tomorrow, a radio podcast by Prime Minister Narendra Modi but with strict instructions to cling to the Model Code of Conduct put down due to the Assembly polls in five states.
The Information and Broadcasting Ministry had approached the Commission to grant permission to broadcast the monthly programme by the PM keeping in mind the dates of the coming Assembly elections; not to break any code of conduct set up by the Election Commission.
Sources said the Commission gave its green signal to the broadcasting ministry with proper instructions that the Model Code should not be violated under any circumstances. They said the clearance was issued like in the past as it is an ongoing programme.
The Commission had also cleared the broadcast during Assembly polls in Maharashtra, Delhi and Bihar. Now, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry assemblies are going to polls by April 4th.
