Actress Aditi Rao Hydari has been roped in as the leading lady, replacing Sai Pallavi, in ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam's yet-untitled Tamil romantic-drama which also stars Karthi.
"Aditi has replaced Sai Pallavi. While the exact reason is still unknown but it's believed that Pallavi had set aside her dates for another project and since this film was getting delayed, she had no other option than to exit," stated movie sources.
In the film, Karthi is tipped to be playing a pilot, who falls in love while on his trip to India.
The regular shooting is expected to start from June.
Double Oscar-winning composer A.R Rahman will compose the tunes, while Ravi Varman will crank the camera.
Hydari made her acting debut with the 2007 Tamil film Srinagaram. In that movie she played the role of a devadasi.
The film itself was based on classical dance, being directed by Sharada Ramanathan and produced by Padmini Ravi, two noted bharatanatyam dancers. Hydari was approached and offered the role, after Ramanathan saw her dance performance at a conference for three days. The film received critical acclaim and fetched several accolades, including three National Film Awards. After that she got many offers in tamil and eventually she started acting in Bollywood. Anyhow her first movie that got released was a malayalm flick with Mammooty, Prajapathi.
So now this home coming with Mani ratnam movie will surely make a bang in the tamil movie industry and critics are eagerly looking for the Mani Ratnam Magic after his soft hit 'OK Kanmani' with Malayalam actor Dulqar Salman and Nithya Menon.
Aditi's role in the movie Delhi 6 marked her acting skills and she did versatile characters after that. She bagged Apsara award and Big star award for her roles in Murder 3 and Rockstar respectively.
Lets see what she gonna make in Tamil again.
