Bhakts, listen to your boss. Watch Modi talk about his education

This may not be the mother of all revelations…..Nor is it one of the India’s best kept secrets… But this is straight from the horse’s mouth. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a candid interview, recorded several years ago, had said he left home at the age of 17 and gathered  knowledge due to God’s grace.

In this interview to journalist turned politician Rajeev Shukla, Modi says he has studied only up to Class 10. However in his declaration before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls he is reported to have claimed that he has graduated from Delhi University and has a Masters from Gujarat University.

In response to a query under the Right to Information (RTI) Act for information on Modi’s BA degree, the Delhi University said it its impossible to trace it without details like roll numbers and year of appearance. Another RTI request about how many candidates bearing the name Narendra Modi was declared successful in the BA examination of 1978 was also blocked citing national security, a news outlet said.

“Modi was at that time desperate to be interviewed. He would always complain that nobody does his interview. He came to our office and got it done,” Shukla was quoted as saying by a business daily, soon after the then Gujarat chief minister was nominated as the head of BJP’s campaign committee, before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Shukla had said that the interview was done when Modi was working as a functionary of the BJP. The interview also has visuals of Modi meeting visitors in his modest room in the party office.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written to the Central Information Commission (CIC) demanding that Modi’s education details be made public. Last month the CIC had asked Kejriwal, why he should not be declared a public authority, and his educational details and economic assets need to be declared.
