‘Brevity is the soul of wit’

shakuttanApril 23 marks the 400th death anniversary of William Shakespeare. Three days later is his 452th birth anniversary.The prolific bard penned over 150 sonnets, 40 plays and poems in his 52 year long life span.

To celebrate the greatest ever wordsmith, Twitter had introduced a new emoji.

Acting legend Patrick Stewart officially launched the emoji along with the hashtag #ShakespeareLives. He also encourages people to recite their own favorite Shakespeare in a tweet or on periscope and share it.

Fans all over the world are getting involved with tweets in Shakesperean language under the hashtag  #Shakespeare400.

Twitter is teaming up with the Globe and using a Tweeting typewriter to scan all of the tweets and to include the selected tweets in the Twitter-published ‘Complete Works of Shakespeare’.
