The photo was taken in Vancouver two years ago at We Day, A youth empowerement event aimed at motivating youth to take action on local and global issues.

The actress’s Guangzhou and Shanghai tour dates has been pullout from her website. It is suspected that the act has to do something with the Chinese Government.

The claims are substantially denied by the Chinese Government and Selena Gomez’s team. But, the picture has been removed from Gomez’s Instagram page.

Interestingly, two popular American bands ,Bon Jovi and Maroon5, also faced a similar ban last year. Bon Jovi’s concert was cancelled last year because they used the picture of Dalai Lama during a concert dated back in 2010. A birthday wish sent by the keyboardist Jesse Carmichael to Dalai Lama in twitter forced Maroon 5 to cancel thier concert in Shanghai and Beijing.

Gomez is the latest in addition of the array of celebrities banned from China for voicing thier concern over Tibetan issue. Richard Gere, Brad Pitt, Harisson Ford and Martin Scorsese are the other famous actors who faced similar ban.
