Government remodels National Centre for the Arts

The Government today reconstituted the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, (IGNCA) board. Culture Ministry in a release said that Ram Bahadur Rai has been appointed as the Chairman.

The new board has 20-members. The IGNCA established in 1987 is an autonomous institution under the Culture Ministry which works as a centre for research, academic pursuit and dissemination in the field of the arts.

Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma today said that reconstitution of IGNCA board is a practice which has been followed in the past also. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr Sharma said, the decision has been taken in public interest. The Minister said, there is no need to take the decision otherwise.
