After the opposition forced four adjournments in the pre-lunch session in Rajya Sabha on Monday , Chairman M. Hamid Ansari asked Trinamool Congress (TMC) member Sukhendu Sekhar Roy to "withdraw" from the house for the rest of the day for creating disturbance during question hour.
Roy was standing and asking for a statement from Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on the AgustaWestland issue.
The Rajya Sabha had just met at 12.30 p.m. after an adjournment when Ansari banished the member from the house for standing and creating a disturbance during the question hour.
Meantime, the TMC members questioned why Ansari did not take action against Congress members who were also disrupting the house. They have also staged a walkout after the Chairman asked him to leave.
Congress and Trinamool Congress had raised the issue of AgustaWestland chopper deal scam in the Rajya Sabha very strongly today. Trinamool’s MP Sukhendu Sekhar asked Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to come clear on the names of those who took the bribe. Trinamool has also given a notice to take the Chopper deal issue for the discussion urgently and to suspend all other matters until it is discussed in the Upper House.
