Assassination threat to Rahul: Congress delegation meets Home Minister
A delegation of top Congress leaders including Anand Sharma and Ahmad Patel met the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh demanding more security to the Party Vice president Rahul Gandhi, after the Puducherry unit of the Congress received a threat letter aiming at him.
According to the media reports, the delegation has requested a sudden probe into the issue since the letter zeroed upon the Party vice President and threatened to assassinate him. Though the meeting is over, the decision taken in the meeting is not out, yet.
The letter which was received by Congress leader in Puducherry Narayanasamy is written in Tamil and posted in puducherry on May 4.
Rahul was scheduled to address a poll campaign in the state which is going to the polling booth on 16th this month.
According to his schedule, he is expected to speak in a public rally in Karaikal tomorrow.
Meantime, the letter written to former Minister in PMO Narayanasamy says that they will assassinate Rahul Gandhi upon his visit to the place, since the Congress part is the sole responsible for “Closure of industries” in the area.
The letter also warned that there might be a blast in Karaikal if he visits the place.
As of now, the Congress Vice President along with his family members has been enjoying the elite special Protection Group (SPG) which only the Prime Minster and former prime ministers are having right now. The families of former prime ministers included under the SPG , after Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated during the 1991 General Election poll campaign in Tamil Nadu.
