In a series of tweets on Tuesday night, Bollywood actor  Rishi Kapoor questioned the practice of naming all roads and buildings in the country  after Gandhis.

Referring to the controversy that arose after the Minister of State for External Affairs Gen (retd) VK Singh opined to change Akbar road in the capital to Maharana Pratap Road, Rishi Kapoor tweeted that if roads in Delhi can be changed, “Congress assets/property” in the country could also be changed.

Baap ka maal samjh rakha tha,” (Do they consider it as their father’s property), an angry Rishi Kapoor said in his classic outspoken style.

Rishi, one of the greatest romantic actors of the Bollywood said that the roads in Mumbai should be renamed after Lata Mangeshkar and JRD Tata, along with a handful of alternatives in the film industry like Amitabh Bachchan, Mohammad Rafi and his own father Raj Kapoor.

“Change Gandhi family assets named by Congress. Bandra/Worli Sea Link to Lata Mangeshkar or JRD Tata link road,” he said.

Rajeev Gandhi udyog Kya hota hai? Socho doston!” he urged his one million followers to think upon the issue.

“Imagine Mohamad Rafi Mukesh Manna Dey, Kishor Kumar venues on their name like in our country. Just a suggestion.” rishi Kapoor said.

The Kapoor & sons actor also said that his father Raj Kapoor has made India proud over the years ‘certainly more than what has been perceived by politics’ and his name should also be taken into consideration.
