Actor and BJP leader Roopa Ganguly’s convoy was attacked allegedly by members of ruling Trinamool Congress in Diamond Harbour near Kolkata on Sunday.

Ganguly was assaulted while she was returning from Ishwaripur village of Kakdwip district after visiting some injured BJP workers.

While she was returning to Kolkata, a group of villagers blocked the way of her convoy and attacked her. The unknown attackers manhandled her and vandalized her vehicle.

She suffered head injuries and has been admitted to the district hospital, party sources said. Doctors said she is recovering.

Roopa Ganguly had unsuccessfully contested from Howrah (North) against Trinamool’s Laxmi Ratan Shukla in the recent assembly elections in Bengal.
