Marilyn Monroe was not a blonde from the beginning. When she was 19, she was encouraged to apply to The Blue Book Modeling Agency, where she bagan researching the work of Jean Harlow and Lara Turner. She was told that they were looking for models with lighter hair, so she bleached her brunette hair a golden blonde.
Though she was typecast as a dumb blonde(which she hated), her IQ level states a completely different story. She had an extremely high IQ of 168!!! (Even Einstein’s was 160)
Despite wide acclaim for her acting abilities, she was never nominated for an Academy Award. However, she did win a Golden Globe for her role as Sugar Kane in Some Like It Hot.
Monroe made Joe DiMaggio promise to leave flowers on her grave every week if she died before him. He kept his promise and had half-dozen red roses delivered three times a week to her crypt for 20 years.
She was originally set to play Holly Golightly in Breakfast At Tiffany’s (1961), but Audrey Hepburn got the role instead.
Her “Happy Birthday Mr. President” dress sold for $1,267,500.00, a world record for the most expensive piece of clothing ever sold, and is in the Guinness Book of World Records.
She was buried in a pale apple green Pucci sheath dress. The dress was a favorite and she was photographed in it during a press conference in Mexico City in February 1962.
Marilyn Monroe didn’t like diamonds: Although she was famous for singing the song ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend’, she wasn’t an admirer of affluent jewellery. All of her jewellery was in fact costume jewellery with the only exception of a string of pearls and a diamond ring given to her by Joe DiMaggio, her second husband.
