I never ever met Sonia, Manmohan and Antony: AgustaWestland middleman Michel
In an exclusive interview to India Today channel in Dubai, AgustaWestland case middleman Christian Michel said that he never met Congress President Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, and Former defence minister AK Anotny. He also stated that the only person he met among those who related to AgustaWestland case is former IAF chief Colonel SP Tyagi. . “I probably met him at Delhi’s Gymkhana Club at a social event,” he said.
The new revelation from the man who was believed to be the middleman in the controversial deal will downplay the allegation levelled by BJP top brass against Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi.
Christian Michel also negated the allegations that he had met some Congress leaders while the infamous company was lobbying to sell its products to India.
Christian Michel is now under Interpol notice after Indian authorities appealed for an international investigation against the infamous arms dealer.
In the interview, Michel also made it clear that Congress and Modi Government have not interfered in the 3700 crore VVIP chopper deal.
Earlier, Christian Michel had said in an interview that some investigation agencies and channels in India have contacted him asking to denounce anyone from Gandhi family by including their names too in the AgustaWestland case. He also claimed that these outfits have offered him with dropping of all charges against him, if he agrees to denounce any one from the Gandhi family.
“At this time it was made very clear to me through a number of obtuse channels, if I was willing to denounce and member of the Gandhi family relating to the so called VVIP helicopter scandal all charges and investigations against me would be dropped. I responded in the negative and without so much as summons and within one week an arrest warrant was issued against me and within a few weeks after that the Indian authorities then contacted Interpol and used this mechanism to put further pressure on me to agree to their political agenda,” he wrote in a letter to Registrar of the International Tribunal on 23 December 2015.
Meantime, The CBI which is currently probing the case has questioned an alleged associate of Michel, RK Nanda. The investigation agency has also started inquiry against Tyagi who allegedly reduced the flying ceiling of the helicopters from 6,000 metres to 4,500 metres to make AgustaWestland Chopper company qualified for submitting of bids.
