Modi's BA degree is authentic: DU Registrar
Negating the allegations leveled by AAP leaders including Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, DU Registrar Tarun Das said that the degree has all the relevant records
The Registrar of Delhi University confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BA degree certificate shown by BJP leaders as authentic. The authentication by the DU Registrar came after the AAP leaders including Ashutosh and Ashish Khetan visited Delhi University seeking clarification on the issue.
Negating the allegations leveled by AAP leaders including Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, DU Registrar Tarun Das said that the degree has all the relevant records and termed the differences in the certificate and mark sheets as “minor error.”
"We have checked our records and it has been confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's degree is authentic. He cleared the examination in 1978 and was awarded the degree in 1979," he said after his meeting with AAP leaders.
Upon being asked about the discrepancies in the certificates which were widely shared on social media, the Registrar said that the discrepancies in names in two mark sheets exist in university records as well.
Das also came up with answers to questions raised regarding the differences in the middle name of the PM in the certificate. "Similar errors are often pointed out by other students as well which are rectified when requested," he said.
The copies of of Modi’s MA and BA certificate came to public domain after BJP president Amit Shah and finance minister Arun Jaitley released its copies to the media on Monday.
Earlier Kejriwal had asked Delhi University to put Modi’s Degree certificates on website so that the confusions regarding the issue will be clarified. He had also claimed AAP has got some documents proving that his degree is forged.
