Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a post graduate in Political Science. And he had scored 62.3 percent marks in the exam, MN Patel, the vice-chancellor of the Gujarat University was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Last week Central Information Commissioner (CIC) had directed the university to disclose this if some one seeks this information through RTI. A similar direction wa given to Delhi University too, where Modi is said to have done his graduation.
Earlier Delhi University had refused to disclose the information citing technical reasons. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the CIC of covering up facts about Modi’s educational qualifications. He said therewere speculations about the qualifications of prime minister and the people of this country should know the truth.
The CIC, which recently rejected a similar query, asked the PMO for details regarding PM’s registration with the university . In response, Kejriwal tweeted: “We welcome CIC decision. All speculations wud be put to rest now.”
Patel has said that no one has approached the university seeking information yet. He told NDTV that that the university had earlier turned down the request since rules allowed only individual candidates to seek details of their marks. “For instance X cannot seek details of Y and that is why we had turned down the RTI request. Now that the CIC has issued an order, we will provide details if asked to,” he said.
