Vivo IPL 2016: Royals over Lions, AB de Villiers guides RCB to finals
With the first Semi final of the Vivo IPL being played today which turned out to be a nail biting package of a game, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have defeated the Gujarat Lions by 4 wickets. The match was comprised of serious ups and downs till the last ball.
The RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first which made the Gujarat Lions reach a score of 158 (all out) with leading run maker as Dwayne Smith (73 off 41 balls). The match seemed very unpleasant for the Gujarat Lions in the beginning as they lost wickets back to back without any stable partnership.But the momentum was restored by Dwayne Smith who didn't show mercy to any bowler and making the score stretch to 158.
Some really good bowling figures displayed by the RCB side with Watson bagging 4 wickets and 2-2 each for Abdulla and Jordan.
The score seemed attainable in the beginning for the RCB batting side when D Kulkarni got in a zone of wicket taking and helped the Gujarat Lions to put the RCB in a tough spot with sending back star players like Gayle, Kohli and Watson back to the pavilion at really early stages. Kohli's incredible streak of innings was put to an end when he was dismissed at 0 off 2 balls by Kulkarni.
It was when AB de Villiers got in, made the shots, fired the ball everywhere in the stadium and owned tonight's show with a striking score of 79* off 47 balls. Iqbal Abdulla too contributed in the winning runs by playing an innings of 33* off 25 balls after his impressive bowling for the team.
The Man of the Match was awarded to AB de Villiers (79* off 47 balls) for the classic knocks he displayed despite of immense pressure and pulled the match to his team's court.
The RCB has surely booked its place in the finale of the Vivo IPL Season 9 and it is yet to be seen who will collide with the RCB in the much awaited final match of the Vivo IPL which has been blessed with such match winners in the team and loving fans from across the world.
