AIB’s comedian Tanmay Bhat was roasted on social media for his new spoof showing a mock conversation between legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and famous singer Lata Mangeshkar. The video has drawn much flak through online and offline means, since it was found ‘not-so-funny’ and ‘humour in bad taste’ for many, including celebrities across the nation.
Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) filed an FIR against the comedian and threatened to beat him up for allegedly abusing Tendulkar and Lata. MNS Chitrapat Sena’ President Ameya Khopkar lodged the complaint in Shivaji Park police station, Mumbai. He had earlier demanded Tanmay to withdraw the post from Facebook.
Bhat posted the video on Facebook on May 26. However, it dragged negative and positive comments after it was widely shared on social media platforms on Sunday.
Tendulkar’s wife Anjali Tendulkar said on Twitter that Disrespect is not cool neither it’s funny. “Comedians should understand the difference between comedy and insult,” she tweeted.

Actor Anupam Kher said on Twitter that he found the video as disgusting and disrespectful.
“I am 9 times winner of best comic actor. Have a great sense of humor. But this is not humor. Disgusting and disrespectful,” he tweeted.

The video titled “Sachin vs Lata Civil War” included many abuses against Lata saying that her face looks like someone kept her in water for eight days. The video also allegedly said that she is 500 years-old and “Jon Snow also died, so should you.”
The mock conversation in the spoof is about who is the best player among Sachin and Virat Kohli. Tanmay acted as both Sachin and Lata. Vinod Kambli also found a place in the video as saying Kohli is better than Tendulkar for which he was abused by ‘Tendulkar.’
Many Bollywood actors like Reteish Deshmukh and Celina Jaitley have took to the Twitter criticizing Tanmay as he has ‘crossed the limit.’

“Absolutely shocked and appalled. Not amused. Lata Mangeshkarji needs to be apologised to now!,” tweeted Celina.
“Am absolutely shocked. Disrespect is not cool and neither is it funny,” Riteish said.
Sachin and Lata have not responded to the controversy.
Meantime, Tanmay who had took it silly earlier suggesting to use his snapchat ID “thetanmay’ while writing about him, has come today forward with explanation that he respects Sachin and Lata.
