In its renewed attack on BJP MP Maheish Girri for his alleged involvement in the murder of a New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) official MM Khan, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called for the arrest of Girri and NDMC vice-chairman Karan Singh Tanwar.

Speaking to the media, AAP spokesperson, Raghav Chadha charged Girri and Lt Gov Najeeb Jung of providing political patronage to Delhi hotelier Ramesh Kakkar, who has been arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the murder. AAP also demand Girri should be “arrested and interrogated” so that the truth comes out.

AAP had earlier released a covering letter written by Girri for a representation by Ramesh Kakkar, the prime accused in the case, to the LG, complaining about Khan’s “arbitrary” conduct. The letters raised questions about the relation between Kakkar and two BJP leaders, Girri and Karan Singh Tanwar.

On May, 16, NDMC law officer, Khan was shot dead outside his house in Jamia Nagar by two assailants for not taking a bribe from hotelier Kakkar. According to police, Kakkar wanted Khan to revoke the cancellation of the licence deed for his Connaught Hotel in Delhi. In February 2015, the NDMC had sealed it on the ground that licence fees to the tune of Rs 140 crore had not been paid to the council.
