Armed militants intercepted a bus in Afghanistan’s Kunduz province on Wednesday and kidnapped 47 passengers.

Armed men stopped a long-distance bus in Khan Abad district along the Kunduz-Takhar highway and kidnapped 47 passengers, a security officer told Xinhua news agency. Three commuters safely fled the scene.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.

Over a dozen civilians were killed as Taliban militants kidnapped a bus in Kunduz late last month.
