Mumbai Fire: Massive fire breaks out near Regal Cinema in Colaba

A major fire broke out in a four-storey building on the Colaba Causeway, a busy commercial street in south Mumbai. The incident happened near Regal Cinema in Metro House building. Police have rescued two people from the fire, no casualties or injuries reported yet

A major fire broke out in a four-storey building on the Colaba Causeway, a busy commercial street in south Mumbai. The incident happened near Regal Cinema.

According to reports, police have rescued two people from the fire. No casualties or injuries have been reported yet.

“We have rescued two people from the fire,” ANI quoted senior police officer Manoj Sharma as saying.

Flames and massive billows of dark smoke can be seen above and in the window of the multi-storeyed Metro Building. The building also houses the famous Cafe Mondegar and a McDonald’s outlet. The incident took place in the Metro House building very close to the iconic Regal Cinema which happens to be a landmark in the area.


The cause of fire has not yet ascertained as of now, however, it reportedly broke out in the higher floor of the building. Around 12 fire tenders have been rushed into the site and trying the douse the flames. The fire reportedly broke out in the higher floors of the building and spread upwards.

The Colaba Causeway has been closed to the public. The area has both shops and homes.
