This way you can retrieve old iMessage from your Apple phone

If you deleted or lost your iMessages on your iPhone, you can restore your messages from iCloud and iTunes backup files. If you don't have the backup files, you can also recover deleted iMessages from iPhone directly with iPhone Data Recovery. iOS Data Recovery is a helpful program which helps users to recover deleted iMessages from iPhone. This tool allows you to recover deleted files from iOS devices, extract data from iTunes and iCloud backups

Method 1. Recover deleted iMessages from iPhone

  1. Run iOS Data Recovery and choose Recover from iOS Device.
  2. Connect iPhone to computer with USB, and click the Start button.
  3. The program will scan your iPhone. When the scan is done, check Messages and select the iMessages you need. Then click Recover.
  4. Click Open in the pop-up dialog to choose a target folder on your computer to save the messages. Then click Go to start recovering deleted iMessages from iPhone.

Method 2. Recover deleted iMessages from iPhone backup

  1. Run iOS Data Recovery and choose Recover from iTunes Backup.
  2. Select the iPhone backup and click Scan at the right bottom.
  3. The program will scan your iPhone backup. Check Messages when the scan is done, and select the messages you need. Then click Recover.
  4. Click Open in the pop-up dialog to choose a target folder. Then click Go to start recovering deleted iMessages from iPhone backup.

Method 3. Extract iMessages from iCloud Backup

  1. Run iOS Data Recovery and choose Recover from iCloud Backup.
  2. Log in iCloud with your Apple ID. Note that the Apple ID should be the one you update your iPhone backup with.
  3. Select the iPhone backup and click Download.
  4. The program will download and scan your iPhone backup. Check Messages when the scan is finished, and select the messages you need. Then click Recover.
  5. Click open in the pop-up dialog to choose a target folder. Then click Go.

The iPhone data recovery software will finish the recovery process in a while, and it will export the recovered messages to CSV and HTML files so that you can view them on your computer.
