Jerry O’Neill Lawler aka Jerry “The King” Lawler and his fiancée have been arrested on grounds of domestic violence.
Lawler, who is 66 years old, and Lauryn McBride, who is 27 years old, have been charged with domestic violence which happened between them on Thursday at Lawler’s East Mephis home.
According to the information on an arrest affidavit, when the Police arrived, Lawler and McBride got into an argument which escalated to be violent.
Jerry Lawler and Lauryn McBride were living together for the past five years.
McBride has alleged Lawler of hitting her against a kitchen counter and then further hitting her on the left side of the head and pushed her against the stove, according to the affidavit.
She alleged that Lawler went upstairs and retrieved an unloaded pistol that he put on the kitchen counter and told her to “go ahead and kill yourself.”
Lawler also has a side of the story which he told to the Police.
Lawler told that he and McBride got into an argument regarding about where she had been which he says that she was lying about. Moments after the argument got heated, McBride scratched Lawler’s face, threw a candle at him and kicked him in the groin as well.
He also furhter said that McBride was intoxicated and was not in her senses, alleging her that she was the one who brought the pistol in the kitchen after getting it out of his garage. Since McBride was intoxicated, Lawler said that she tried to leave in his vehicle from which he was trying to stop her.
Since it was not clear who was the person who initiated the aggression, the Police arrested both, Lawler and McBride.
Both of the involved people will appear in court on Monday.
The bars are not something new for Lawler. Jerry Lawler was also arrested in the past, in the year 1999 when he was running for Memphis Mayor.
In 1999, a parking enforcement officer alleged that Lawler run over his foot because of some parking ticket quarrel both of them had gotten into.
Lawler denied he ran over the officer’s foot. He was indicted on the reckless endangerment charge. He pleaded guilty to the charge and paid a $25 fine.
