10 kids killed as school van collides with train in UP

In a tragic incident, at least 10 children were killed as their school van rammed into a passing passenger train at an unmanned crossing in Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi district, the police said.

Nine children were also injured in the incident. The students have been admitted to a nearby medical facility for treatment where the condition of two is reported to be serious.

The victims included the van driver. The vehicle belonged to Tender Heart School.

The incident took place at an unmanned crossing at Kairmau on Varanasi-Allahabad rail section, an official said.

In its preliminary probe, railway officials have found that despite being alerted by the ‘gang man’ that a train was on way, the driver overlooked it and drove ahead.

There were a total of 19 children in the van.
