Salman’s hit-and-run case: SC admits Maha govt’s appeal against actor’s acquittal
The Supreme Court on Tuesday admitted a plea filed by the Maharashtra government challenging the acquittal of Bollywood actor Salman Khan in a 2002 hit-and-run case.
A bench of Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar and Justice Arun Mishra also refused to fast-track the hearing in the case.
The 50-year-old Sultan actor was on December 10 last year given a clean chit in the case with the Bombay High Court observing that the main witness was ‘wholly unreliable’.
Following the verdict, Maharashtra government had filed a fresh appeal in the Supreme Court.
