After days on the run, Dayashankar Singh finally arrested in Bihar
A non-bailable warrant had been issued against Dayashankar Singh, a former BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh who on July 19 made derogatory remarks against Mayawati
Controversial former BJP leader Dayashankar Singh, whose brazen abusive remarks against BSP chief Mayawati saw massive condemnation from all parties concerned and was also taken up in Parliament, was finally arrested in Bihar after being on the run for days, police said.
Ever since the remarks, the BSP had held several protests in Lucknow and have lashed out at the BJP.
Additional Superintendent of Police Keshav Yadav said over the telephone from Buxar that a joint team of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and Bihar police nabbed him from the Chini Mill area in Buxar.
"He will be taken to Uttar Pradesh," Yadav said.
A non-bailable warrant had been issued against Dayashankar Singh who had on July 19 made derogatory remarks against Mayawati at Mau in UP.
A case was registered the next day and the BJP expelled him. He had been on the run since then.
