Beyoncé’s audio-visual song track Lemonade has dominated the nominations for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. The song landed Queen B her career’s best record of 11 picks. The R&B superstar’s video for her song Formation is also pitted against Adele’s famous track Hello.
The MTV Video Music Awards are due to be held of 28 August 2016 in New York. It will be aired live on MTV. These awards are based on the votes given by fans and the voting starts on Tuesday.
Others accompanying Beyoncé on the list of nominees are Adele and rapper Kanye West. Surprisingly, Taylor Swift was nowhere to be found. While Adele made a comeback with her mellow dramatic single Hello, her latest hit Send My Love also bagged 8 nominations. Kanye West has gained a lot of criticism and even more eyeballs and ears for his new video Famous all of which got him a total of 2 nominations.
Although Taylor Swift has been ranked number 1 on the list of top earning celebrities by Forbes, it hasn’t helped her with her nominations. Even the recent series of events that she got herself into with Calvin Harris, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry hasn’t helped her for that matter. Speaking of Calvin Harris, he and Rihanna also managed to score some nominations for their song This is What You Came For. Despite all of Taylor Swift’s efforts and allegations, she did not get to be a partner on their success. Rihanna has also been nominated for her song Work featuring Drake.
The British Artist who recently died of cancer in January soon after releasing his latest and last Album, David Bowie, was also nominated for editing, cinematography, art and best direction for his singles Lazarus and Blackstar.
Whatever may the results be, the borderline remains that our very own Queen B, Beyoncé rules the world!
