Saluting the soldiers who laid their lives for the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday greeted the country on the 17th Kargil Vijay Diwas.

PM Modi said the heroic sacrifices of soldiers continue to inspire people.

“On Kargil Vijay Diwas I bow to every valiant soldier who fought for India till the very last breath. Their heroic sacrifices inspire us,” Modi said, in a tweet.

PM Modi said the nation will never forget the fearlessness with which our courageous soldiers gave a befitting and unforgettable reply to the intruders.

“We recall with pride the firmness demonstrated by India’s political leadership in 1999 which ensured a decisive victory in Kargil,” he added.

Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates India’s victory in the high outposts on July 26, 1999 after they were lost to Pakistani intruders and regulars.
