After former 'One Direction' singer Zayn Malik, Liam Payne has become the second one in the band to sign a deal to produce his solo record. Payne has partnered with Capitol for his solo venture.

Liam announced this news on Twitter on Thursday expressing that he is “happy to have signed to ‪@CapitolUK. They have an amazing history of artists, I hope I can follow in their footsteps”. Soon after he tweeted that he is excited about this new chapter in his life, although One Direction will always be his family and home.

The boy band, One Direction, was formed in London, UK, in 2010. The band was formed during the reality television show The X Factor, when judges of the show decided to pair them all up and insisted that they perform as a band. They gained recognition for their chart buster single “What Makes you Beautiful”. This track won them MTV Video Music Award for Best Pop Video
. Ever since the band has been releasing one hit after another, touring the world and expanding their fandom.

In 2015, the news of Zayn Malik leaving the group to work on his own solo album Mind of Mine, spread like wildfire. The band was about to set out on a world tour when Zayn pulled out, leaving many of his fans disheartened. Nonetheless, his songs Pillowtalk, Like I Would and many others from his first solo album, got him back on the list of hit songs.

Now, Liam Payne opts out to produce his solo album. From the looks of his posts, it seems like work on his upcoming solo piece has already begun. Capitol has helped many UK-based singers and musicians rise to their fame. Now, what’s left to see is whether the pop-singer, like Zayn, would succeed in winning the hearts of his fans with his singles.

Another question that pops into the mind is whether the trend of leaving the band stops here or will more 'One Direction' members consider going their own way. Also, will 1D, now, be producing songs with only three members left in the group?
